I guess so. I am hearing many with this regard. Supervisor and the institute that supports the funding matters more.

In my opinion, yes for sure. But i think it depends on the famous supervisor, because they generally apply more than one applicant. Highly ranked host institute also, but in the end again, they have lot of applicants. I heard that it's better to apply with a supervisor who has ERC. I don't know the logic behind and not my case, but I know a lot of people who won with an ERC holder PI..

It is very likely. As such, there is a section in quality of the host and quality of the supervision to boast of your supervisor research career and your host ranking. I think people here shared a paper on how top-ranked hosts obtain more funding (well, I guess that's why they are top ranked). Anyway, seeing how competitive this is, the research project has to deserve funding in any case

I guess that's why the widening fellowships make sense to secure funding for countries without well ranked universities, hence having less applications
