This is what I was sent two years ago (apparently the letter was addressed to the coordinator, not me):

Dear Coordinator,

We regret to inform you that your above proposal has been rejected. The Rejection Letter is available on the proposal page at the Participant Portal. Log on at the Participant Portal, go to My Area > My Proposal(s) and click the Follow-up (FO) button.

Does your friend actually know the outcome from that, or has s/he received an evaluation report as well?

It just looks like the contact from Heriot-Watt was added to the project (or given an extra role), which doesn't seem to imply anything about outcome. I wonder if someone else at H-W (e.g. in the research office) had permissions on the proposal, then they could have done that without ERC involvement.

Also note the time - I think notifications on the website are all in CEST time. If correct, then this was sent about 4 hours go.

Two years ago, when my Project was rejected, my notification came several hours AFTER my evaluation report had been uploaded.
