Yeah I put in number of citations as well...answer is not many citations.

I also did something they probably won't like for the potential publications. I put the Q levels of the journals since I hate impact factors. My host said that was fine, but I'm sure they'll pick on me for that.
:-) and what if evaluator has less refs than you? Excellence is the key i think. I am afraid about 2 way transfer of knowledge and level of compatibility with the host. My host is top in Europe, but my project is new to them as wrll :-).
I think it’s fine if your project is new to them. My process of things is different than my potential host’s is. I think as long as you justified they can’t be too mad.

Theres a lot of good conversation here about various aspects of the proposal, and yes it is right to state that it is a training fellowship, however I think that 'Excellence' is the key section. In other words, the research idea needs to be outstanding to get funded. My approach was to make the case that my research is crucial (it is) and fills a huge gap (it does) and very few people are well situated to conduct such a research project. I think (or at least I hope) that such as approach captures the attention of the 'researcher' in the expert.
I agree and this goes along with how the three main sections are weighted.

True. You have to bring something to them and they should provide you something as well. And i think the best way is if your proposal is in line with some of their ongoing project.

ah! if you put information in the tables that should be written in proper words and sentences, the evaluators would have been asked not to look at those tables!

I think excellence will be the weakest. In 10 pages is impossible to cover all aspects of application in detail.

Few winners checked it before submitting and my CV is quite good, as I have 13 first - coauthored papers in a good journals :-(.
It is hard! I know that my potential host ended up making our margins really thin and playing with the font to make sure we stayed in 10 pages. I'm not sure that will be accepted...but we did it like that.
Yea, i put a lot in small tables allowing me to use 9pt. And narrowest possible margins. I think the crucial aspect is a level of compatibility with the host lab.

Really? The handbook and my NCP stated we should do lots of tables. All my two way transfer stuff is in tables (full sentences though).

Exactly! I used tables to address risks management and training plan.

I guess is the opposite...I also remember specific sentences in which putting crucial info in tables was marked as a bad practice.

I remember something like 'only use tables where appropriate' and I was quite careful to not overdo it in case I was punished.

Well NCP should never be fully trusted... In my case they checked my project and suggested some revisions according to the wrong template (the one from last year)!! If I would have followed their suggestions I'll be automatically out

I literally used the table templates from the handbook. I guess it’ll suck if all 8 of my tables are out.
