I think excellence will be the weakest. In 10 pages is impossible to cover all aspects of application in detail.

Few winners checked it before submitting and my CV is quite good, as I have 13 first - coauthored papers in a good journals :-(.
It is hard! I know that my potential host ended up making our margins really thin and playing with the font to make sure we stayed in 10 pages. I'm not sure that will be accepted...but we did it like that.
Yea, i put a lot in small tables allowing me to use 9pt. And narrowest possible margins. I think the crucial aspect is a level of compatibility with the host lab.

Sorry to hear that. If there is no biased evaluator, you must have missed some important aspects.

Over qualified?
Maybe you have too many papers in good journals.

I had a training on a msca proposal preparation. They asked specifically this year to put number of citations. So i assumed that papers in high quality journals is a big blus!

I do not think that it is because of your CV. A good CV adds, it does not diminish... Wait to have the comments of the reviewers.

Yeah I put in number of citations as well...answer is not many citations.

I also did something they probably won't like for the potential publications. I put the Q levels of the journals since I hate impact factors. My host said that was fine, but I'm sure they'll pick on me for that.

:-) and what if evaluator has less refs than you? Excellence is the key i think. I am afraid about 2 way transfer of knowledge and level of compatibility with the host. My host is top in Europe, but my project is new to them as wrll :-).

I guess that it really depends on the evaluators. Even tough they are guided by a template in order to score your proposal, if they think the project is not feasible or they don't like it, they will find 1000 things to put you down; and even if they don't find it, they will make it up.

That's academia ladies and gentlemen.

Después de todo lo que hemos esperado deberíamos celebrar los mails con unas birras.

After all we've been waiting, we'd better go for some beers to celebrate receiving the mails.

Theres a lot of good conversation here about various aspects of the proposal, and yes it is right to state that it is a training fellowship, however I think that 'Excellence' is the key section. In other words, the research idea needs to be outstanding to get funded. My approach was to make the case that my research is crucial (it is) and fills a huge gap (it does) and very few people are well situated to conduct such a research project. I think (or at least I hope) that such as approach captures the attention of the 'researcher' in the expert.
