2018 Marie Curie Individual Fellowship (H2020-MSCA-IF-2018)
Re: 2018 Marie Curie Individual Fellowship (H2020-MSCA-IF-2018)
I'm currently on my first postdoc project, but it's for less than a year and it doesn't pay much, so I also do some teaching in addition. But it was the only way to stay in academia and it ends in a few months (+ a month or two extension). MSCA IF would be wonderful for me because I could focus on research only and it would last a bit longer; it's not the only option because I used the project for some other fellowship applications. But neither of them may work out in the end, which would mean I'm out.
Good luck everyone!

I asked something similar before. I’m still a grad student. Seeing everyone else much more experienced that Im up against is terrifying. First time applying for this grant but I’ve applied for a few others with the same project. Hoping I can find something or I am jobless!traxtibidox wrote: ↑Sun Feb 10, 2019 9:18 pmGuys,
How many of you have a position, even a temporary or part-time one, in academia, and is MSCA IF your only chance to continue your research?

Good luck to you too!traxtibidox wrote: ↑Sun Feb 10, 2019 9:47 pmSeems we are in a similar position and this is our last chanceSimone wrote: ↑Sun Feb 10, 2019 9:45 pmme. If I want I could find a way to stay in academia, but I've no interests anymore. I already resigned from my previous position and now I just wait to see if I get this fellowship before officially leaving academia.traxtibidox wrote: ↑Sun Feb 10, 2019 9:18 pmGuys,

It is the first time I apply for the MC so I don't have much hope...
Good Luck!
Honestly, waiting the MC results to see if I'm leaving academia or not is increasing my anxiety levels even more! I can't plan my future until I don't know the outcome of the fellowship!

I left my country to come to Europe, after PhD I moved to another country in Europe as a postdoc. Got a position last year in a small university in Europe, but did not go because it did not look very attractive... Now, I am trying to get some funding to stay in academia... Figures crossed and good luck to you all...

I just started a permanent position as a lecturer but I’m still on probation. I’m not sure if I love the position. :/ And there is very little research allowed.traxtibidox wrote: ↑Sun Feb 10, 2019 9:18 pmGuys,

I still have 1 year of post doc, I am applying for the 2nd time. Not sure what to expect but I will keep trying academia . This is part of the game.
Re: 2018 Marie Curie Individual Fellowship (H2020-MSCA-IF-2018)
I experienced heath problems in 2016-2017 and went for more than a year unemployed, as I needed a rest. This is the reason my MC application is in the Career Restart panel. After I did this application, and trying to a get job back in academia and finding it difficult, I got a fixed-term lectureship position here in the UK, where I live since 2010 when I came for postdocking... I started last month, and it is mainly teaching. I am enjoying more than I expected. This MC grant would mean I go back to my country and to do a project that is amazing

I have uprooted my little family and cost my partner his permanent job for my current postdoc, which will end by the end of the year. I really hope MSCA IF is not my only chance of staying in the academia, because I know there is a good chance that I won't get it (I was on the reserve list last year, missed the cutoff by 0.8).traxtibidox wrote: ↑Sun Feb 10, 2019 9:18 pmGuys,

Towards the end of the 3rd year of my postdoc and there are no hopes to continue in academia if I don't get some funding with my name on it.traxtibidox wrote: ↑Sun Feb 10, 2019 9:18 pmGuys,
