I can't wait to see comments, i was sure that project will pass :cry: . How they calculate the score? :?: i guess something in excellence went wrong.
Sorry to hear that, but you still stand a chance as you are on the reserve list.

Regarding the score, I believe it is like this:

Excellence: x/5
Impact: y/5
Implementation: z/5

Score = (x*0.5+y*0.3+z*0.2)*20

Now what if anything is the objective difference between, e.g., 4.5 and 4.6 on, for instance, excellence, is of course debatable.

At that level it is sufficient a comment like: you did not mention the frequency of updating the project website... as it happened to me. Or yiu did not mention ipr... very stupid things. When you get a high score comments are very marginal and sometimes useless because your project is very solid and competitive.

I am reaching 13 years AFTER PhD and I don't have any permanent position. I got a MSCA IF in 2010-2012 and I publish ok (just got this week my last paper accepted in Nature Communications, yey!). I have an international career and very extensive CV with a lot of experience in research, teaching, science policy, outreaching, project managing, just name it... I am far from being an exception, we are more and more senior researchers without permanent positions. You can see here for example: https://www.mariecuriealumni.eu/news/lo ... red-nature
Of course I am looking at changing career! Not easy though when we are not younger anymore, but don't regret the choice of pursuing what I liked to do. I had a lot of fun, and I'll have a lot of fun doing something else too (or so I hope!!) ;-)

There seems to be a lot of "if I don't get this fellowship I am leaving academia" stuff about. I understand that, and I am in the same boat. Actually even if I do get the fellowship I may refuse it and leave academia very soon. I've no desire to be a lecturer as I don't enjoy teaching, and there seems to be few full time research positions in the social sciences. Its unfortunate.

Who says 12 years is too long including PhD? My PhD alone took 6 years to finish (plus 4 years prior to that in another PhD program that I never finished (ABD)). I got my degree in 2013. So you can say I’ve been around for 16 years and I still feel young!

Of course i do not think that you are too old for a marie curie. More and more very good researchers are without a permanent academic post and it seems as though academia is full 9f over qualified people.

And then universities pay much more admin stuff. Academia is becoming rotten and very unfair
