Did my Phd and postdoc in Dublin. Wonderful country, amazing people! Will go back any time, if it wasn't for personal situation!

well, Bren! You're most probably married (you will get a family allowance) and going to do your research in the UK which has one of the highest country-specific coefficients for the living allowance!
